Yemeni Court Acquits Alleged al-Qaeda Members

Posted by thebosun on July 10, 2006

A Yemeni court acquitted 19 alleged al-Qaeda members of charges they plotted to blow up a hotel frequented by Americans, citing a lack of evidence.

We are entering a new era in our war on terrorism. President Bush has told us that we must have resolve in winning the war on terrorism. The left has told us to cut and run.

There are new complications from a Yemeni judge in San’a, Yemen. The judge has legitimatized Jihad from the bench and issued his own edict or judicial fat’wa. This appears to be a slight victory for Bin Laden and Al-Zawahiri.

Bosun’s Disclaimer: The actual guilt or innocence of the suspects have not been addressed or implied in this post. One must analyze what the judge has said and done according the news article that appeared in today’s Boston Herald:

Several of the defendants did confess to having been in Iraq to fight U.S. troops there and had Iraqi stamps on their passport, the judge said.

“But this does not violate (Yemeni) law,” the judge said. “Islamic Sharia law permits jihad against occupiers,” he said. Cries of “Allahu akbar”(God is great) rose from behind the bars where the defendants stood, clad in blue prison uniforms.

Families received the verdict with cheers and claps. Some burst into tears. “This (verdict) is a change for the judiciary in Yemen,” said Ali al-Kurdi, one of the defendants. “It is fair, something unusual.” … Link to the Boston Herald news article.

It appears that it is going to get worse before it gets better. Sounds like Yemen has its own version of the ACLU and radicalized “leftism.” The radicalized ideology of this flavor of religion of peace is scary
