SANCTUARY CITY FOR ILLEGALS?
By Rick Roberts, KFMB AM San Diego. The voice of Southern California
September 13th, 2006
National City Mayor Nick Inzunza declared in an interview on NPR that he wants National City to be a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants. What this means is that city funds will NOT be used to enforce federal immigration laws. Click Here! Are you kidding me? In this day and age when we have millions upon millions of illegal immigrants bedding down in this country, the last thing we need is more encouragement for the illegals to come here. Inzunza went as far as to say “I hope that my residents who I was elected to represent feel that they will not be harassed, not allowed to stand on the streets and look for work or kicked out of a neighborhood canyon.” So Mr. Inzunza I suppose we should just have a free for all in our community?
This makes no sense what so ever. While the vast majority of us are committed to addressing this nation’s illegal immigration problem, propaganda peddling liberals like Nick Inzunza continue to put roadblocks in our path. If we fail to address the problem at the border and even go as far as to encourage illegal immigrants to come here with no fear of repercussion we as Americans are going to find ourselves in a desperate situation. Why should these illegals get special treatment? Why are we not shouting from the rooftops that this is OUR country and we will not sit idly by and let you destroy our country from the inside out!
Are you, the citizens of National City comfortable with this from your mayor? Should this mayor not speak for his citizens instead of trying to push his own political agenda? This is not a partisan issue; we are talking about the safety and security of our great nation. For one man to so arrogantly push his own views upon National City and its residents is unconscionable.
This single selfish act by one man will have a lasting impact not just here in San Diego, but nationwide. Immigration activist Enrique Morones and others are already planning a rally on September 30 to encourage the community to support the idea of National City as a sanctuary city. Morones also went as far as to say that cities such as Vista and Escondido who are creating a law that would make it illegal for landlords to rent to illegals are “racist.” So I suppose any law that restricts immigrants “rights?” is racist. The fact that American citizens are expected to sit by and take this is preposterous. We have illegals living in canyons throughout San Diego County and the last thing we need to do is encourage this type of behavior. We as people have the strongest weapon available-Your Vote, and Your voice. We must make a stand against Mayor Inzunza and let him know that we as Legal Americans will not allow this to happen. Speak Up, speak out and in one resounding voice send a definitive message to Mr. Inzunza “I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!”
