Islamists Opposition Furious At Musharraf’s New Rape Law

The Islamic opposition parties in Pakistan are enraged over an amendment to the rape law.  Pakistan’s National Assembly on Wednesday approved the controversial and apparently unpopular Protection of Women bill.

“From now on, if a woman is raped, it will not matter whether she has evidence or not, only the rapist will be judged,” Musharraf announced following the assembly’s meeting. The existing law, introduced in 1979, stipulated that a woman who was raped could file a complaint only if she had four Muslim men witnesses, otherwise, the woman would be executed for committing adultery.

Where the hell is the outrage at the radicalized extremist whack jobs?  About time that the Mohammedans held their men accountable for inappropriate conduct.  Thank you President Musharraf for protecting women.

I read this in the morning. This is just so fantastic. It may be a small step in comparison to our system, but this is huge. I only pray they will remain on this road forward for, not only women but, everyone.

Islam is provide a complete protection to woman. Islam is the first religion the world who respect the womans and told that no body is allowed for trading of womans or use of womans for sex or other negative things.

Every effort which is done in Islam for protection of woman is acceptable regardless of some mistakes.

The Critism on Islam is totally a baseless, and who did not know about a single word or phrase on Islam, started the critism due to his own religion. Who study the Islam will always respect the Islam.

Islam means peace and peace means Islam. The effort in the Bill is not the first effort. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) always give a respect to women. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) added the shares of woman in Property. The Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said that Paradise is in the foots of Mother.

Islam is the first religion who give a complete way of life. No other religion is gives the way of life.

    Thanks

Sabaah al-khayr, I do not want to sound critical. However, it is about time that the law was passed. It is now
    19 Nov 2006, 27 Shawwal 1427 Hijri.
When I listened to the opposition to the law, it was confusing that some fundamental Muslims would try to deny more protection under the law. I am glad that Pakistan has finally started protecting all women.
