Columbia University rolls out red carpet for Ahmadinejad

Posted by thebosun on September 21, 2007

Columbia University is trying to paint itself as a beacon of freedom of speech and opportunity by their move to invite Ahmadinejad over for a speaking engagement.   However one of their little secrets is that they have banned military recruiters since 1969 and will not sanction a ROTC program.

Prior to the Vietnam War, Columbia cadets had peacefully coexisted with their classmates since the inception of ROTC in 1916. Columbia’s dedication to service was profound—at one point in its history the university was producing more officers per year than even the U.S. Naval Academy. In spite of Columbia’s military tradition, the administration expelled ROTC programs from campus in 1969 to appease student protesters and disgruntled faculty. When the war in Vietnam ended in 1975, students resumed their studies and the protests faded away. Columbia’s ban on ROTC, however, has remained to this day.  Source: Advocates for Columbia ROTC.

On with the Columbia University – Ahmadinejad love affair, a marriage of questionable nature.

    Hi,

    Just some FYI:

    WASHINGTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Friday

Freedom’s Watch President Bradley A. Blakeman released a statement and a copy of the print advertisement it has requested to be run in the Monday edition of the New York Times.

“Freedom’s Watch could not sit back and allow a terrorist to come to America masquerading as a world leader. We have an obligation to warn the world of the dangers of a nuclear Iran and to uncover the true intent, that
being, the destruction of the United States and the State of Israel.

Let’s be clear, Iran today kills American soldiers in Iraq and they will not stop there,” said Bradley A. Blakeman, President of Freedom’s Watch.

The text of the advertisement follows:

    Ahmadinejad Is A Terrorist

Columbia University is wrong to give him a platform.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad threatens our nation and the freedoms we value. He has supported attacks on our soldiers and our allies. He should be treated as the terrorist that he is.

Yet, while Columbia gives a terrorist like Ahmadinejad a platform to speak, they refuse to allow the ROTC on campus.

What has happened to this prestigious university?

People who support killing Americans are welcome. But the military that defends them is not.

Columbia should be ashamed of its actions.

Freedom’s Watch knows that America and the forces of freedom are right. We know the threat of terrorism is real. And we know Democracy must prevail.

The terrorists and their appeasers are wrong.

“And God willing, with the force of God behind it, we shall soon
experience a world without the United States and Zionism.”
    — Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Thanks for the heads up Dan. We should revoke Amannamedjihad’s visa to visit the US of A.

Amannamedjihad wants to get in everyones face and flaunt his whacked out ideas.

Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson said Thursday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad should not be allowed into the country, much less at the World Trade Center site, when he travels to New York next week to address the United Nations.

“I know there would be ramifications in the United Nations” if the U.S. refused to let Mr. Ahmadinejad into the country, Mr. Thompson said during a brief news conference at Dallas Love Field. “I would deny this character a visa. What’s he going to do, visit there to get pointers for his own activities? I wouldn’t let him in the country.”

Mr. Thompson said the Iranian regime was a threat to Americans and should be dealt with accordingly.

“They’ve been killing Americans here and there all over the world for some time,” he said. “They’re doing so in Iraq today.”

I believe that we should have revoked this chucklehead’s visa. I am wondering if the ACLU lawyers and others are going to get involved with the controversy?

I suspect that Amannamedjihad is trying to set the stage for a strong UN protest against his treatment by the City of New York and the US Government.

BTW, Amannamedjihad, his buddy Hugo Chavez, and several of their revolutionary US-hating brothers are going to have a big meeting after he leaves. Wonder what that is all about?

  4. President of Columbia University: We Would Certainly Invite Hitler to Speak Here!

This is the new left. This makes sense to these people. Its all about intellectual debate. None of it is real, just theory and debate. They enjoy their own freedom of speech and expression but take absolutely NO responsibility for what they sa…
