According the an Associated Press (AP) story that was carried on CBS News, the FBI is currently searching for 11 Egyptian Students who failed to report to the exchange program at Montana State University. The missing Egyptian men were part of a group of 17 students who arrived in the United States on July 29th (2006). Apparently all of the students had obtained appropriate visas to enter the United States.

The whereabouts and intentions of the missing 11 students are unknown. At least the other six Egyptian students who arrived on July 29th, reported to their respective exchange programs at Montana State.

According to FBI Special Agent Richard Kolko. “At this point all they have done is not show up for a scheduled academic program ….. There is no threat associated with these men.”

I do think judgment on whether these students have any involvment on the terror plot should be kept open. It’s just to convenient with the timing and all. I do think somebody explained the new laws about reporting to class and going to class on a visa as a must. One report from a uncle said ” he’s probably working some where ” I think he should be grilled. I live where 2 students wanted to learn how to fly- but was not interested in learning how to land.
Common sence should prevail – if it looks like it is connected to terrorism maybe it has some connection – If they don’t read there visa papers and rules and regulations- maybe they should not be going to school here . Chana O’Neill

    Chana,

I respect your comments regarding this issue. Were you aware that originally there were 20 student who applied for visas at the same time and that three students visa applications were rejected while they were still in Egypt?   See the article at Northeast Intelligence Network.  Doug has posted an FBI BOLO that he obtained.  I am not attesting the the authenticity of the BOLO.

Therefore, 17 students arrived in New York, together. 6 went on to the college and 11 went “AWOL.” When students enter the United States they understand what is expected of them, normally. In this case, there has been no rational for why 11 went missing. They have had the opportunity to turn themselves in. Two students did. Several other were apprehended. One of the students, the one in Chicago apparently caused a slight disturbance at the Chicago airport.

The FBI and ICE have kept mum on the specifics of this case. I believe that there is more to it than has been released yet. Remember the two students, linked with the Canadian terror group were announced in the same manner. It was not until weeks later that a link was established. I am not saying that this case has criminal intent. At this time we do not know what is going on and authorities are not saying much. Keep your ears open and wait to see what is going on.

    Respectfully,
    Bosun
