More on Pelosi’s rebuke of Pete Stark at Stop the ACLU

Pelosi, the latest politician to rebuke Pete Stark.

Of course being a Democratic politician, Nancy Pelosi’s rebuke was mild, but even she understood some sort of rebuke was necessary from her, as Speaker of the House, regarding Pete Stark’s remarks on the floor of the House. (Hat Tip to Lew for the email)

One of Pete Stark’s remarks:

“You don’t have money to fund the war or children,” Stark accused Republicans. “But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people if we can get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

Nancy Pelosi’s mild rebuke: (From the San Francisco Chronicle)

“While members of Congress are passionate about their views, what Congressman Stark said during the debate was inappropriate and distracted from the seriousness of the subject at hand – providing health care for America’s children,” Pelosi, D-San Francisco, said.

This is not the first time Nancy Pelosi has had her own underlings in the Democratic party undermine her as she was trying to focus everyones attention on SCHIP.

Right before the SCHIP veto by the president, you might remember that Nancy was upset that House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) decided to unveil his Iraq “war tax” idea, which raged through the blogosphere for about 4 hours before Nancy nixed it publicly, upset that Obey had shifted focus from SCHIP to the war tax, at a critical time.

The Democratic party cannot seem to stay on the same page. Almost like the left hand having no clue what the right hand is doing.

This type of rhetoric from Stark is not new though, his past is strife with him making inappropriate comments, one time, in 2003, the police even had to be called to the hearing.

In 1990, Stark told Health and Human Services Director Louis Sullivan, an African American, that he was a disgrace to his race.

In 2001, Stark made a reference to the children of Rep. J.C. Watts, R-Okla., all being “born out of wedlock. Patently untrue, but that rarely matters to Stark who is known as a back bencher that cannot control his tongue.

He also accused Rep. Nancy Johnson, R-Conn., of being a “whore for the insurance industry.

In 2003, Stark, called Rep. Scott McInnis, R-Colo., “a little wimp” and a “little fruitcake” — and suggested the two should step outside. Capitol police were called to the hearing. (Source)

It is pretty bad when the San Francisco Chronicle says:

Surely there must be someone along the shoreline between Alameda and Fremont who could represent the good citizens of the district with class and dignity. It’s not the case now.

Republican politicians had some critical words for Pete Stark following his latest outburst.

John Boehner issued a press release:

“Our troops in Iraq are fighting against al-Qaeda and other radical jihadists hellbent on killing the people we are sent here to represent. Congressman Stark’s statement dishonors not only the Commander-in-Chief, but the thousands of courageous men and women of America’s armed forces who believe in their mission and are putting their lives on the line for our freedom and security. Congressman Stark should retract his statement and apologize to the House, our Commander-in-Chief, and the families of our soldiers and commanders fighting terror overseas. ”

Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas:

“It is despicable to have a member of this Congress accuse this president, any president, of willfully blowing the heads, quote, blowing the heads off our young men and women over in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Rep. Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, said the remarks:

“were hateful and wrong, and should be labeled as such by the House Democrat leadership.”

Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri:

Pete Stark’s statements on the House floor this afternoon crossed all lines of decency and decorum. As a member of Congress, he should be ashamed. But as a senior member of the Ways and Means Committee –- and the current chairman of its Health subcommittee –- the Democratic leadership ought to be ashamed as well.”

Steny Hoyer (D) said Stark’s remarks were “unfortunate” and “totally inappropriate”, he then went on to say that he’s hopeful that Stark will express his regrets because he says that these comments have been a distraction and CNN is told that several Democratic lawmakers have called Stark today and made it clear that what Stark said on the House floor yesterday was hurting their cause.

That comment from Hoyer is not going to make the lunatic fringe of their party very happy at all, because the far left, liberal, unhinged portion of the party do not want Stark to apologize and those are the people that lead Stark by the nose. Some even claim it is only the Republicans that are upset at Stark, completely ignoring Pelosi’s words, Hoyer’s words and the fact that other Democratic politicians are calling Stark to make him apologize.

The National Republican Campaign Committee issued a press release:

DEMOCRAT DISGRACE:
Pete Stark Drags SCHIP Political Circus to All-Time Low

Washington – Just moments ago, in an outrageous and delusional tantrum on the House floor, California Congressman Pete Stark trampled on the sacrifice of our troops fighting on the frontlines while simultaneously questioning the motivations of the Commander-in-Chief in wartime.

Pete Stark and the Democrat leadership owe the American people an apology, the troops and their families an apology, and they should apologize to the millions of children being held political hostage by their party’s desperate attempt to score a political victory instead of providing healthcare for those who need it most.

While Pelosi and Hoyer are upset about Stark “distracting” from the SCHIP issue, Stark’s insane cheer leading squad from the far left are encouraging him.

More proof that they party is not only divided but the fringes have the uncanny ability to work against the leadership of their own party, which is one reason they cannot seem to get anything done and are running at a 11% approval rating.

Can any one say…. self destruct mode?

[Update] Gateway Pundit shows that when the nutroots cannot win an argument, they simply lie about it.

Nutrooters Crooks and Liars discovers that if you can’t possibly win an argument over the latest disgusting anti-military, anti-Bush remarks by a Democratic politician…
Then just lie about it.

On The Spot: Should Congress Make Taxpayers Subsidize Columbia University?

Posted by thebosun on September 26, 2007

Rep. Duncan Hunter (Republican – California) on Monday threatened to cut off federal funding to Columbia University in New York City, which on Monday hosted Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for a speech and question-and-answer session with students.  (Iran, according to the State Department, is a state-sponsor of terrorism.)

“If the left-wing leaders of academia will not support our troops,” Hunter said in a statement, “they, in the very least, should not support our adversaries.”

Just why should the taxpayers subside Columbia University’s social agenda?   Since 1969, Columbia has banned military recruiters since 1969 and will not sanction a ROTC program.

Prior to the Vietnam War, Columbia cadets had peacefully coexisted with their classmates since the inception of ROTC in 1916. Columbia’s dedication to service was profound—at one point in its history the university was producing more officers per year than even the U.S. Naval Academy. In spite of Columbia’s military tradition, the administration expelled ROTC programs from campus in 1969 to appease student protesters and disgruntled faculty. When the war in Vietnam ended in 1975, students resumed their studies and the protests faded away. Columbia’s ban on ROTC, however, has remained to this day.  Source: Advocates for Columbia ROTC.

HUNTER DENOUNCES COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY INVITATION TO IRANIAN PRESIDENT

Washington, D.C. – In a letter to Columbia University President Lee Bollinger, U.S. Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) today criticized the University for inviting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to speak to students and faculty this coming Monday, September 24th.

“This leader of state, which supports terrorists, is presently sending deadly roadside bombs across the Iraqi border to injure and kill American troops,” said Hunter.  “Columbia University’s hosting of Ahmadinejad is a slap in the face of the 165,000 U.S. troops serving in Iraq.  As he speaks, his agents will be moving roadside bombs onto the battlefield to be used against America’s military men and women.

This event, following the slanderous advertisement by MoveOn.org, depicting General Petraeus as “General Betray Us,” represents the emergence of the extreme left-wing of American politics.

Hunter concluded, “If this event takes place as scheduled, I intend to introduce legislation to cut-off Columbia University from every form of federal assistance.  If the left-wingers of academia will not support our troops, they, in the very least, should not support our adversaries.”

Please call, fax, and/or email your congressmen and congresswomen and express your outrage at taxpayer dollars subsiding a social agenda and undermining our military.

Saying he is convinced “the Bush administration has a master plan to erase all borders and to have a super-government in North America,” James P. Hoffa, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, celebrated the Senate’s 75-23 vote Tuesday night to block the Department of Transportation’s Mexican truck demonstration project.

He noted the Senate seconded the House’s overwhelming 411-3 vote to pass the Safe Roads Act of 2007, a bill also targeted to block the Mexican truck project.

Elvira Arellano’s road trip ends in apprehension

Elvira Arellano’s road trip ends in apprehension

‘… fix this broken law and uphold the principals of human dignity’

By Linda Bentley, Reporter, Sonoran News

LOS ANGELES – After seeking sanctuary in the Aldalberto United Methodist Church in Chicago, where she has lived for the past year to avoid deportation, Elvira Arellano decided to hold a press conference last Thursday, announcing she would be going to Washington, D.C. on Sept. 12 to lobby Congress to reform our country’s immigration laws.

After living in the United States illegally for a decade, Arellano still does not speak English and requires an interpreter. However, this time she read, with great difficulty, a speech prepared for her in English.

Peppered with repeated references to her “American citizen son,” Arellano read, “If this government would separate me from my son, let them do it in front of the men and women who have the responsibility to fix this broken law and uphold the principles of human dignity.” According to the Merriam- Webster Dictionary, dignity is defined as “the quality or state of being worthy, honored, or esteemed.” Arellano, 32, is hardly the portrait of dignity.

Shortly after entering the country illegally in 1997 using someone else’s identification, Arellano was deported.

However, she returned almost immediately, working at various jobs in Washington State, later moving to Chicago, using the names Gloria Trevino and Donna Miranda-Baretto and a social security number issued in Wisconsin to Margaret Benez, born May 6, 1920 and who died Sept. 15, 1995.

That was how Arellano was able to gain access to the secure area of O’Hare International Airport where she worked cleaning airplane cabins.

That was also what got her arrested and deported after immigration agents did a sweep at O’Hare in 2001.

In addition to entering the country illegally, engaging in identity fraud, Arellano gave birth to an illegitimate son, Saul, now eight, who would not be an American citizen, had Arellano not reentered the country illegally after being deported.

With a glowing eight-page pre-sentencing report, stating deportation would be punishment enough, Arellano was charged with a single misdemeanor for fraudulently presenting a social security card that was not issued by the Social Security Administration and was sentenced to three years probation, which prohibited Arellano from remaining in or reentering the United States after being deported.

Arellano lost the appeal of her deportation order, but instead of surrendering to be deported, Arellano decided to hole up in Rev. Walter “Slim” Coleman’s church.

During Thursday’s press conference, Arellano, reading from her prepared statement, said, “Families should not be separated. I understand fear because I fear being torn from the arms of my son.” Arellano made the decision to become a fugitive.

Apparently Arellano had other plans she did not announce during the press conference.

After the press conference, Michelle Dallacroce, founder of Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, learned Arellano was headed to Los Angeles, accompanied by Coleman and others, where they were to join Coleman’s wife, Emma Lozano, an open borders activist for Latin American illegal aliens and one of Arellano’s closest friends.

On Friday, Aug. 18, Dallacroce called the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Los Angeles and spoke to Agent Bison, advising him of Arellano’s status as a fugitive and that she was on her way to Los Angeles.

While Arellano’s every move has been covered by the Chicago Tribune, including sending a reporter to Arellano’s home village of San Miguel Cunahuango, Michoacán, Mexico, earlier this year, Dallacroce said no one from the Chicago ICE office contacted ICE in Los Angeles to advise them of fugitive alien Arellano’s road trip.

The Tribune’s Online edition released breaking news on Saturday announcing Arellano’s arrival at Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Los Angeles and said she was expected to speak during an illegal alien rights march later that afternoon.

Dallacroce provided Bison with all the details available at the time.

On Sunday afternoon, immediately after Arellano and her entourage got into a van to leave Our Lady Queen of Angels Church to head north to San Jose, where Arellano had another speaking engagement scheduled, an unmarked vehicle pulled up to block them.

As the driver, Roberto Lopez, looked out the window to see why they were being blocked, they were soon surrounded by several more unmarked vehicles.

Agents got out and yelled for Arellano to get out of the van. Arellano asked to spend a moment with her son, and then surrendered without incident.

As of Monday, no charges have been brought against Coleman, Lozano or Lopez for aiding, harboring or transporting a fugitive alien.

Saul will remain in the United States with Lozano, which Arellano reportedly expressed was her wish if she was deported.

Again, it is Arellano who made the decision to be separated from her son.

Dallacroce said she planned to go to Washington, D.C. next month and make a citizens’ arrest had Arellano not been apprehended.

Over the past two years, Dallacroce has been lobbying to get Congress to clarify the “under the jurisdiction” clause of the 14th Amendment, which she says is being purposely misinterpreted in order to grant citizenship to the children of lawbreaking foreign invaders.

She believes these “jackpot” babies, raised by foreigners, speaking foreign languages, with no allegiance to this country, will eventually negate the votes of American children.

Dallacroce says Arellano’s sense of entitlement, based solely upon having given birth to an illegitimate son, after committing identity fraud and reentering the country illegally after being deported, emphasizes just how preposterous it is to grant citizenship to the children of foreign criminals, as she implores Congress to clarify the misinterpretation of the 14th Amendment for the sake of her own and all American children.

That’s the broken law Dallacroce says needs fixing.

CARE TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE NORTH AMERICAN UNION?
By Rick Roberts,KFMB 760AM San Diego

imgiib

We had Dr. Jerome Corsi of WorldNetDaily and StopSPP.com on our show this morning to discuss some VERY vital issues, including the NASCO super highway.

Here is what we discussed:

Southern border blurs for global trade

Superhighway a ‘crazy conspiracy theory’?

Bush’s detention facilities

Dr. Corsi touches on countless key issues that lamestream media journalists wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole.

You can listen to Rick Roberts’ interview by clicking here.

Sadly, these issues are not conspiracy theories. They are what we face as a nation if we don’t fight.

Dr. Jerome Corsi received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in Political Science in 1972. He has written many books including “Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry” (along with John O’Neill), “Black Gold Stranglehold: The Myth of Scarcity and the Politics of Oil” (along with Craig R. Smith), “Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians,” “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders,” and most recently, “The Late Great U.S.A.: The Coming Merger With Canada and Mexico.” He is also an expert on political violence and terrorism. In 1981, he received a Top Secret clearance from the Agency for International Development, where he assisted in providing anti-terrorism/hostage survival training to embassy personnel.

Freedom of Religion Watch: House sends religious expression bill to governor

Posted by thebosun on May 27, 2007

Courtesy of: JonJayRay at Stop The ACLUReligious Expression gets Extra Protection in Texas

It is rather deplorable that this was needed. One would have hoped that the First Amendment alone would have sufficed:

“Texas students would have greater freedom to express their religious views on school campuses under a bill passed Saturday by the House and sent to Gov. Rick Perry, who has publicly supported the measure.

Under the legislation, religious beliefs expressed in homework, artwork and other assignments would be judged by traditional academic standards. Students couldn’t be penalized or rewarded because of the religious content of their work.

Supporters say the bill is needed to protect students from censorship and school districts from lawsuits. But opponents argue it will lead to religious discrimination among students. “We are allowing our young people to express their faith, whatever that faith is,” said Rep. Larry Phillips, a Sherman Republican.

At an April news conference, Perry was surrounded by children and parents who said their religious speech was quashed at public school. Supporters of the bill have cited examples of students being prohibited from wishing troops overseas a “Merry Christmas” or told they couldn’t distribute religious bracelets at recess.

Source: Tyler Morning Telegraph, Sunday, May 27th

No doubt the ACLU will be mounting a court challenge the minute the bill is signed.

Texas Town says Ningún Gracias to Illegals.

Texas Town Says No Más to ILLEGALS

posted in Immigration |

ILLEGALS are parasites who sponge off this country. They use resources that they are not entitled to and that they do not pay for. Health care is just one item that is overburdened by the ILLEGAL population. Couple this with the burden on schools which are paid for with tax dollars from those working legally and the problems mount. The jackasses in Congress do not make this problem any easier to solve because they vote to allow ILLEGALS to collect Social Security and to receive welfare, more taxpayer money down the drain. I understand that many of these people are hard workers but that does not amount to anything when they are viewed as a whole. They got here by breaking the law and it does not matter whether they are hard workers or not. The executives at Enron were all hard workers but when they broke the law all hell broke loose and people, including the idiots in Congress, wanted their blood. This is because a lot of investors and employees lost a fortune because of those illegal acts.

Well, this country is losing a fortune because of the ILLEGAL acts of the immigrants who broke the law to get here. The fiscal strain is no less significant than it was for those affected by Enron but it goes unnoticed because it is spread out to all the taxpayers. You can bet that if this problem only affected the rich and famous then Congress would do something about it. But hey, they are use to using our money unwisely so it really does not matter to them because in the long run they (especially the Democrats) will gain a new voting base. Our nation is being over run by people who have no right to be here and we need to do something about it. One Texas town has.

Voters in Farmers Branch Texas made it clear that they do not want ILLEGALS living there. They passed a law that would require people renting property to determine that the prospective tenant is here legally or they will be subject to a fine. There are many who applaud this law and some who think it puts the burden of determining legal status on the wrong people. Lawyers representing people who are opposed to this say that the town has taken over something that is explicitly a federal task. The US Code is pretty clear that it is the duty of all law enforcement to report ILLEGALS. Be that as it may, there are many who will fight this new law. I think they should check each person who shows up to testify against it. They might be able to get rid of some more of the vermin.

Linkfest Haven, the Blogger's Oasis

I have heard the argument that it is the federal government’s responsibility to handle immigration. Those who oppose laws designed to stop this infestation have cited this a number of times. I believe that immigration is a federal responsibility but it is up to everyone to assist. Investigating bank robberies is a federal function but that does not preclude law enforcement from the states helping out. In any event, how about each state pass its own laws that say they will not allow ILLEGALS to be in the state and that they are allowed to check that at any time. Perhaps the states can not deport the ILLEGALS but they can arrest them for being ILLEGAL in that state and put them in jail for it. Perhaps the states could deport them to safe havens like San Francisco.

Regardless of how it plays out, one town in Texas has had enough and has decided to do what the federal government refuses to. This might be thrown out in court but we will never have success in thwarting the hoards of ILLEGALS unless we take a stand and try something new.

Big Dog

WHY BRING MORE CRIME INTO THIS COUNTRY?
Originally posted at KFMB AM Radio San Diego By Rick Roberts
April 10th, 2007

El Presidente Buuuush visited Pima County yesterday to talk about his immigration plans.

He was at the opening of a new border patrol station…

THAT’S DAMN INTERESTING.

It’s odd, I heard no mention of the border patrol agents unfairly prosecuted by “loyal Bushie” Johnny Sutton… No mention of the pardoning of BP agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. But I digress…

The President reiterated his belief that millions of new guest workers are needed to “do jobs Americans aren’t doing.”

Bush is quick to brag about Mexico importing their “talents and culture” into the U.S., but what you do not hear about is one of their highest importations: Crime.

A century ago it was the thing to migrate the legal way, to assimilate, to respect America… Such thing is now long gone, and now we edge closer and closer to imploding and eroding as a nation.

A couple Fridays ago, drunk illegal alien from Mexico, Alfredo Ramos, was speeding down Virginia Beach Boulevard in Virginia when he plowed into the rear of a 1994 Plymouth belonging to Allison Kunhardt, 17.

She was driving with her best friend, Tessa Tranchant, 16. Allison’s car was stopped at a red light.

Both were killed. One of the girls died at the scene. The other girl died shortly after she arrived at the hospital.

Both were wearing seatbelts.

Both were pinned in the wreckage and had to be cut free before paramedics could tend them.

Alfredo Ramos was working at a Mexican restaurant, Mi Casita… (You know, one of those jobs that “Americans won’t do.) He speaks NO English. He had three prior drunk driving convictions, including other crimes such as identity theft. His last DUI was only late last year. He was given a 90 day suspended sentence, fined $250, had his drivers’ license suspended… But court documents revealed that Ramos didn’t actually have a valid driver’s license; had actually paid $200 for a fake one. Because the two girls were killed in the sanctuary city of Virginia Beach, Alfredo Ramos was allowed to walk.

Hmmm… that restaurant that Ramos was working at… Don’t you think that if we actually enforced the law, in that perfect world that both parties are oblivious to, that piece of scum would be in his nation of origin and one of those girls could have been working the position that Alfredo Ramos was… Teenage employment is low, illegal alien employment is high. How dumb are our politicians??

Then we have local child molester, Juan Villalobos, 54…

An illegal alien, previously deported, wormed his way through our borders once more to commit a crime far worse than trespassing and stealing our resources and sovereignty…

He stole the innocence of three girls in their San Carlos home just over a year ago.

All three were relatives.

Villalobos was arrested yesterday evening at the Old Town trolley station.

We already have crime in this country. We don’t need more of it imported from other countries…

We ESPECIALLY don’t need it imported from a third world country.

Thanks.
